Soda Bottle + Plumbing Stuff= Middle School Bomb

FOX: SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Authorities say a 15-year-old student has been arrested after a homemade explosive went off at his Massachusetts middle school. Police Sgt. John Delaney said an eighth-grader faces charges of possession of an incendiary device and disrupting school in session after two devices were found Friday at Chestnut Accelerated Middle School in Springfield. The boy is not being identified because of his age. Authorities and school officials say two plastic soda bottles filled with a liquid plumbing chemical, tin foil and water were placed in a school stairwell. A school administrator burned his hand when he touched remnants of one bottle after it exploded. The second device did not go off. No students were injured, and the school has been evacuated.
First things first. A 15 year old in the 8th grade? Aren't you supposed to be in tenth grade at that point? And if the kid can make home made bombs he obviously didn't get left back because of his smarts. This sounds a lot like a new terror cell in the U.S. I just think there is something fishy about a 15 year old kid in middle school.
Let's say this was just a prank. The kid wanted to have a little explosion and get the school to go nuts. What's going on today? What's wrong with 99 cent stink bombs? There was a time that a few people I know (I admit to nothing) all went to the heaviest traveled spots in the school and exactly thirty seconds before the final bell, they all dropped cracked them causing a stinky five minutes for the whole school. What's wrong with that? Why do we have to blow things up today? I say we get these trouble makers in classes and let them know what's acceptable and what isn't. My guess is this kid thought he would get a few detentions and that's it. He just better thank his lucky stars W. is out of office. If he was still there? Forget it, one way ticket to Gitmo.
