Derek Lowe to Braves

ESPN:
Free-agent pitcher Derek Lowe has received a four-year contract offer worth about $60 million from the Braves, and indications are that he's leaning strongly toward signing with Atlanta, a baseball source told ESPN.com.

Have the braves overreacted to losing John Smoltz? Maybe. But I think it was the right move. Chipper Jones if the franchise and he was pretty miffed about the fact that Smoltz went to the Sox. I would have liked to seen Lowe go to the Mets but now they will have to go another direction. So who are the big players still out there? Obviously Manny. Ben Sheets, who may end up being the biggest sleeper in this free agent class. If you can get him at a reasonable price for 2 years or less, I don't care if you're Kansas City, you need to pull the trigger. When healthy he is one of the best. No debate there. Oliver Perez who it is rumored the Mets made an offer to this morning. Word is, it's for 3 years at about 10 million per. Orlando Hudson is still out there, another shocker to me. That guy could play for my team any day. I'm sure there are a few more, but those are the ones I'm most interested in. Mostly because the Tek Vs. Red Sox is a snore-fest.
Oh, and good thing he didn't end up in NY. He would have traded up real quick in the female counterpart department. Just sayin.
