Teacher enslaves students. Kind of.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A white social studies teacher attempted to enliven a seventh-grade discussion of slavery by binding the hands and feet of two black girls, prompting outrage from one girl's mother and the local chapter of the NAACP. After the mother complained to Haverstraw Middle School, the superintendent said he was having "conversations with our staff on how to deliver effective lessons."

"If a student was upset, then it was a bad idea," said Superintendent Brian Monahan of the North Rockland School District in New York City's northern suburbs.

In todays America this teacher is a moron. In reality, I have no problem with this. I used to love interactive lessons in my youth. Sure, that he singled out the two black girls is a problem, but ya know what? If I was in home ec, and we were making authentic spaghetti, that damn teacher better call me up and not some blond hair, blue eyed German to cook it up. That don't fly with me. It's like having a black girl play Annie (a freckled faced red head) or a white guy play Ali. It's just stupid.

I remember being in 8th grade and a history teacher doing a lesson about the treacherous journey by ship for slaves. He put all the desks together and made the whole class sit underneath them for a portion of a lesson. It showed us how awful the trip was. After he was done he let us back in our seats. But some kid stayed under the desks and started making fart noises and did other funny stuff. It was great. How can kids be creative if we don't allow these types of lessons? Fart noises? Still freakin funny.
