Another useless study telling us something we already know
CHICAGO — Almost one in five young American adults has a personality disorder that interferes with everyday life, and even more abuse alcohol or drugs, researchers reported Monday in the most extensive study of its kind.
The disorders include problems such as obsessive or compulsive tendencies and anti-social behavior that can sometimes lead to violence. The study also found that fewer than 25 percent of college-aged Americans with mental problems get treatment.
Once again, someone does a study of things that are common sense. Of course young Americans have a disorder. It's called addicted to technology. If we continue to evolve based on our needs, our voice box will be about as relevant as an appendix. Just kind of hanging out there and nobody knows what it's for. Kids today don't communicate. They don't use their words. Remember that? When you were like 4 you would start crying for some fruity pebbles and your parents would say "Jimmy. Use your words!" Now it's more along the lines of "Jimmy. Text me what you want!" The hours a day spent texting and typing on AIM have disabled kids from learning to deal in social situations.
When I was in middle school, I didn't have the stones to call a girl and ask her out. So I had a buddy do it. I would return the favor as well. This was practice. So when I called a girl to talk to her about my buddy, the fact that I was babbling and border line incoherent never hurt my chances. Only my friends. After practice I was an expert at deceiving girls on who I really was. I was able to make myself come off a lot cooler. Then I was prepared to talk to a girl. Today, you don't get that. It's all texting and typing. No fear of throwing something out there and hearing dead silence on the other end of the phone. So yeah, kids do have a social disorder. Thanks for your help useless study.
