Obama assassination pool? Gambling at its best.

The owner of a Maine store has sparked intense local and national outcry over a sign that invited customers to bet on a date when President-elect Barack Obama would be assassinated, but authorities say no charges are planned. After the post-election incident in Standish, Maine, town officials were bombarded with angry e-mails from around the country. And on Friday, hundreds gathered at a "Rally Against Hate" in Portland to denounce the racially charged sign and to appeal for unity, the Portland Press Herald reported.
Everyone, let's not get your panties all bunched up. Nobody I know wants to see someone die, or be killed. But I'm pretty sure this has been a tradition since Lincoln. If there is one thing I know and love about America, it's that if it happened once, we will now bet on it. Baby's birth date and weight, over/under on a friends relationship, assassinations, Armageddon. All legit things so bet on. Plus, if you're all salty about this pool, take the over, the way over. Take El Presidente never getting killed. When he makes it through all 12 years, you will laugh all the way to the bank.
Which makes me wonder. If you bet on a date, and you commit the crime to win the bet, should it count? I say no, must make said wagerer fill out disclaimer sheets.
