Pitt 11 - San Diego 10: The Sage Continues

As many of you know, the touchdown at the end of the game created a ton of controversy. Rightfully so. Now, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but if you are I am about to fuel your fire. Some of you may have heard, sources inside the NFL have claimed that upon reviewing the replay, the head official was ready to call it a touchdown. This would have Pitt cover the spread. Two other officials approached him after review and convinced him to call it no touchdown. Now, this hasn't been confirmed or admitted by the NFL, but high sources have claimed this to be the case.

Again, I don't think anything shady happened but what kind of an investigative reporter would I be if I didn't look into this? I like to consider myself the "Woodstein of sports gambling". The only reason outside one or both of these officials taking San Diego in their office pool is that they were cold and didn't want to kick the extra point. Obviously, that theory holds no water considering an extra point takes all of 30 seconds. So to play devils advocate here and display the view of someone who believes in the second gunman, we have a problem. How can an official over rule the head official who just looked at the replay? What do these mysterious "two rouge officials" have over the head ref? Was it like 8 men out? Were they threatening to kill his wife? Did they offer him a cool 100 k? There is something fishy going on. Fidel Goodell needs to come out and acknowledge this happening. We need answers. How can we consciously continue to use off shore betting websites if we know this game isn't on the level?

The most overlooked part of this scandal is the fantasy implications. In ESPN standard scoring this blown call was an 8 point swing. That can cost a team a bid at the playoffs. Remember last year when the world went bonkers when Westbrook went down on the 1 yard line? That was only six points. Pitt D, fumble recovery +2, Touchdown +6. Just sayin.

If anyone can identify the two officials that confronted the head ref after the replay e-mail me at JimmyFenimore@gmail.com. I will try and interview them. If not, I will at least throw a brick through their windows.
