Sex and the City: Responsible for Teen Pregnancy
FOX NEWS: CHICAGO — Groundbreaking research suggests that pregnancy rates are much higher among teens who watch a lot of TV with sexual dialog and behavior than among those who have tamer viewing tastes.
The new study is the first to link those viewing habits with teen pregnancy, said lead author Anita Chandra, a Rand Corp. behavioral scientist. Teens who watched the raciest shows were twice as likely to become pregnant over the next three years as those who watched few such programs.
Participants were asked how often they watched any of more than 20 TV shows popular among teens at the time or which were found to have lots of sexual content. The programs included "Sex and the City," "That '70s Show" and "Friends."
"For a kid who no one's talking to about sex, and then he watches sitcoms on TV where sex is presented as this is what the cool people do," the outcome is obvious, Walsh said.
Well duh. I'm all for promiscuous activity, but this is pretty obvious. I watch a lot of sports, so I think it's cool to do an end zone dance, or stand there and watch my ball fly out of the ball park. You ladies that watch these shows, you think it's cool to by an ugly hand bag for 2,000 dollars and sleep around. I get it. As always though, I think I can help.
Sex and the City. Girls like it because those girls are cool, stylish, pretty, bla, bla. Ultimately, why do we want to be cool and stylish? To appeal to the opposite sex, or the same sex if you live in San Francisco. So girls will take a page out of the SATC book. I'm going to let you in on a HUGE secret ladies, so pay attention.
Sex and the City have the following. A 60 year old line backer, a stick figure with a scream mask chin, a woman who will look identical to Hillary Clinton in ten years, and the lone pretty girl is such a dork you can't even deal with her. This is who you girl want to be?
Hey, if that's what makes you ladies happy, I respect you. I'm just saying, in real life, guys thinks those women suck. Not to mention, the clothes they wear, for the most part, a little cooky. Just know this, maybe the reason they sleep around so much is actually because they're not that good looking, they're certainly not that cool, and well, people are afraid to approach them in a bar because it looks like their wardrobe bites. So, they resort to slutiness. Just saying.
