FOX NEWS: Pakistani police arrested a cleric Thursday who was marrying a 4-year-old girl to a 7-year-old boy in a ceremony in Karachi, Reuters reported.
Despite Pakistani law that requires people to be 18 before they can marry, young girls are often married off to settle disputes or pay debts.
Police raided the wedding held in a Karachi home after complaints from local residents who said the girl was being offered up for $6,138.
"We had noticed some gatherings at this house for a couple of days," former district government official, Nazakat Hussain, told Reuters. "Last night I went there and saw that the little girl was actually getting married. So we called the police." Police also arrested the father of the "groom," but the little girl's father had run away.

How dare these cops. That girl has been dreaming of this day her whole life. Coincidently, her life is also the same amount of time it takes to pick a major in college. That's neither here nor there. This is her day. If she wants Blues Clues as the centerpiece of every table, she gets it. If she thinks the toast should be done with Hi-C, that's on her. (I would prefer ecto cooler, the greatest juice box of all time.) And if her wedding song comes from a we sing tape, good for her.
In all seriousness, things like this still go on? A lot of things that go on in this country are pretty primitive and stupid, but I guess you can say we have come a long way. Say what you want about this, but that girl is getting auctioned off no matter what. She was lucky getting married off to a guy three years older then her. Usually they get hitched when they are 13 to a 47 year old. Not only that, I like the brides fathers style. Leave the family behind and bolt. He'd make a great navy captain.
