WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —  A West Palm Beach teen accidentally shot himself while talking on the phone, authorities said. Investigators believe the 16-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was home alone Tuesday night. It appears the teen was talking on the phone and playing with a handgun when it went off. He was found dead at the scene.

This is an awful story. But to help prevent it, we need to get the word out. I have said for years, children, teenagers and even most adults should be playing with these things. Not only can they consume your life, now we have evidence of it claiming lives. Cell phones are an epidemic. The talking, the texting, the web surfing, it can distract you at any given moment. While sitting in class or at work, driving, playing with a hand gun. Personally, I think we've abused cell phones. Just like in "The Happening", our cell phones will fight back one day. I would guess it's subliminal messages they'll use, but who knows.
