Fox News: A British man who killed his wife with a meat cleaver because she changed her Facebook status to "single" was sentenced to at least 14 years in a U.K. prison Friday, the Daily Mail reported.

Phew. I was thinking the Britts would let this guy off light. 14 years for hacking up your girl based on her face book status? That's justice. I don't know how many times I've sited the web for dangerous and ridiculous things. I've warned that Facebook could get you bounced from your job, but I have never discussed how it can end your life. Part of me feels responsible for this girls death. So here is my take on this whole thing. Leave the damn status blank. Starting with the simple fact that we all deal with that "awkward" stage of dating. Somewhere in the middle of calling each other drunk at 2 a.m. and actually having Sunday brunch. So to avoid where you actually stand, don't even make it an option. No single, no it's complicated. The only acceptable status is "Likes to get drunk and randomly hook up with dudes that have blogs." Outside of that, I don't approve. Forget this wackadoo for a hot minute. You know how many fights I have heard about due to this retarded status? Not to mention, no one gives a royal crap if you're single or not. No one cares if it's complicated or going great. In fact, this one is more for the girls. If you update your status from dating to single, how many guys IM you or E-mail you within 24 hours that you haven't talked to in years. Most of them you don't care about and quite frankly are real creepers. Defense rests.
