Dennis Leary, back to comedy

NYPOST.COM-  In his new book, "Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid," the joke-slinging "Rescue Me" star writes about the brain disorder:  "There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both."

It seems like Dennis Leary is back to comedy while he writes this new book. He writes on many topics but this one will certainly cause an uproar. I am a huge Leary fan, which is why I refuse to watch Rescue Me. "The Job" on the other hand, I'll sit down and watch all day. I'm not going to lie, I am of the same opinion as Leary but not about autism, but about ADD and ADHD. If you were to take out the word autism in his mouth vomit and plug in ADD, in a lot of ways I'd be right there with him. Do I think ADD is a legit disorder? Absolutely. Do I think Ritalin is the most over prescribed drug in the country? You bet. Like, if your kid can't sit still in class, it's not a disorder. School is pretty damn boring. Especially when you have a crap teacher at a young age. Forget it. I'd argue if you can sit still through that, you're the weirdo. Give those kids caffeine pills or something.
Anyway, part of me wants to think that's what he meant by his quote. He can't possible think autistic kids are normal, just stupid. If he does he's never been around one. I need to give him credit though, he does a lot of charity work for hospitals and firefighters, so before you jump down his throat, know that.
