Out of style report: Rollerblades

I was outside the other day and saw someone roller blading. I immediately thought, "what a dork". This was a defining moment in my life. I was a big advocate of roller blades. Mostly because I was good at it. I support pretty much anything I am good at. I digress. Roller blading was a pretty cool not long ago. What happened? Now the only acceptable blading is during a roller hockey game. I remember when it was cool to just skate around, you didn't need to be pulling Shaun White type stunts. Although, if you could do that, damn. Sure, Airwalk sneakers and Jynco jeans faded fast, but roller blades transcended that scene. Why is it so uncool now? Like Eric Forman from That 70's Show said "They're just like you and me, but on wheels!" Airborn (a roller blading movie) along with Side out (beach volleyball) and Ski School (um duh) are the best b sports movies of all time. I can't figure out what happened. The discman died because of the ipod, but nothing replaced roller blades. Personally, I think it's because a cool video game was never made with people skating to the local market.

Ski School... brilliant... however you missed Out Cold, Stumpy: " I was there. Yeah, it was called the '80s. Ford was President, Nixon was in the White House and FDR was running this country into the ground. I was bummin' in a hole-in-a-wall town in what is now called Utah. Some fella from Colorado shows up, starts making so called "improvements", right? Before we knew what hit us, the streets are running with late'. It got so bad that a fella that liked to, you know... smoke a little grass or drink a little ripple. Crow like a rooster, maybe challenge the mayor's son to a gentlemen's duel, was "uncouth, against God." More like bad real estate values. So we had to go!"

How dare you call Out Cold a B movie. There is a rumor that the Providence movie theater alone put up dark knight type numbers.

Of course it pulled in those numbers. We went every freakin' night. Sure, it was only $1.75 per ticket, but that adds up my friend. And in regards to your roller blading post, I don't get it. After those public school guys beat those preps down Devil's Backbone in Airborne, I was certain rollerblades would be a mainstay in society. I guess Seth Green can't save everything.
