As American as Apple Pie.

The Ryder Cup kicks of tomorrow on U.S. soil. We haven't won this thing since 1897. No Tiger this year either. I have heard how the reason the Euro trash win all the time is that they "play like a team". Well if the Ryder Cup is the Yankees, A-rod is Tiger Woods. Well, Tiger is out nursing Swedish models and his knee. So now, the U.S. team needs to really "play like a team" I guess. It did get me to thinking. We haven't been able to win this thing forever. We have the best golfer in the world on our team. How bad would it look for him if we won it this year with him on the DL? Tiger is kind of a prick. Anyone who has met him knows that. It's cool. But what if that really has something to do with it? Either way, tomorrow when this gets kicked off I will leave to record the Football Friday podcast, but outside of that, I will be glued to the tv. So what? So let's Dance!

Golf is not a team sport. Why should Tiger have to play nice with a bunch of chumps, then next week get back in the mindframe of whipping them a new hole week in and week out. And you haven't met the guy, so no need to call him a prick. The guy owns golf and is the greatest sports icon of our time (MJ overlapping a few years, of course). No need to mention Arod in the same sentence as Tiger. The two have nothing in common. One is a born winner and loves competition and the spotlight. Couldn't think of anyone further from that than Arod.
"Walter Sobchak: Those rich fucks! This whole fucking thing... I did not watch my buddies die face down in the muck so that this fucking strumpet...
The Dude: I don't see any connection to Vietnam, Walter.
Walter Sobchak: Well, there isn't a literal connection, Dude.
The Dude: Walter, face it, there isn't any connection."

I was talking in terms of individual play as oppose to team play. Arod is the best individual player in the game. Put him in a situation where he needs to help the team out, double play. Maybe a strike out if we're lucky. Tiger stand head and shoulders above the field with his play. However, he hasn't been anything special when he is part of a team. And as for him being a prick, no golfer is fined more then him for "ungentlemanly conduct". Keep drinking the Nike coolaid brotha.
